The league was established in 1958 as an organization formed to provide a program for the youth of the Pleasant Hill area in cooperation with the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District, the Mt. Diablo Unified School District and Diablo Valley College. The Recreation District provides the playing fields. Financing is secured through the sponsorship of the teams by business firms in the area and registration fees for each boy and girl.
PHBA would like to highlight a very special season had by our talented 2018 12U Panther A team. The talented young ladies pulled together from our house league by our Panther Commissioner Ron Cancilla, and coaches Scott Wood, Dan Pike and Mike Saindon jelled to became a force at each and every tournament they played in.
The Panthers finished their travel season last month with a remarkable record of 50 wins and only 15 loses winning an unprecedented 9 of 11 travel ball tournaments. Some of their accomplishments included winning National and State qualifier berths in USA, USSSA, and NSA. They ended their season in the NSA Western World Series in HOT Lancaster CA where the girls of PHBA went in and introduced themselves by run ruling the NSA (National Softball Association) Southern California State Champions in game one.
That game let everyone know that the PHBA Panthers were the team to beat, unfortunately for them, the Panthers couldn’t be beaten and were instead crowned the undefeated 2018 Western World Series Champions. None of this would have been possible if it weren’t for the support of the parents.
What a great group we have.
A special thanks to Dave Scolini for all his work creating the video highlighting our players and some of their success. Please enjoy.
